Starting today, the ZKM will be displaying four artifacts from my body of works Smile to Vote – Political Physiognomy Analytics until January 2025.

On display are:

This exhibition is part of the research project digilog@bw – Digitalization in Dialogue, a research consortium of universities and research institutions in Baden-Württemberg, which has involved over 50 scientists from the humanities, social sciences, law, economics, media and communication sciences, ethics, computer science, and interdisciplinary technology assessment since 2019.

“Smile to Vote – Political Physiognomy Analytics” (2017-2024), an artistic-scientific research project by Alexander Peterhänsel, confronts visitors with an AI-supported voting system that uses facial recognition to determine political beliefs and automate the voting process. The project addresses the implications of AI-supported biometric scoring methods on democratic processes, self-determination, and privacy in the digital age.

There will be several events at the ZKM over the course of the year as part of the exhibition.

Eingebettet ist diese Werkschau in das Forschungsprojekt digilog@bw – Digitalisierung im Dialog, einem Forschungsverbund baden-württembergischer Universitäten und Forschungseinrichtungen, an dem seit 2019 über 50 Wissenschaftler aus den Geistes-, Sozial-, Rechts-, Wirtschafts-, Medien- und Kommunikationswissenschaften, der Ethik und der Informatik sowie der interdisziplinären Technikbewertung mitgewirkt haben.

Smile to Vote – Political Physiognomy Analytics (2017-2024), ein künstlerisch-wissenschaftliches Forschungsprojekt von Alexander Peterhänsel, konfrontiert die Besucher mit einem KI-gestützten Wahlsystem, das Gesichtserkennung nutzt, um politische Überzeugungen zu ermitteln und den Wahlprozess zu automatisieren. Das Projekt thematisiert die Auswirkungen KI-gestützter biometrischer Scoring-Methoden auf demokratische Prozesse, Selbstbestimmung und Privatsphäre im digitalen Zeitalter.

Es wird im Laufe des Jahres noch einige Veranstaltungen im Rahmen der Ausstellung am ZKM geben.
